FAREWELL EVENING AT WOMEN'S CLUB FOR MISS ELLA WILSON

On© of tlie loyal and enthusiastio workers of the evening section of the Hastings Women' s Community dub, Miss Ella Wilson, who leaves Hastings at the end of the month to spend a year in England, was the guest oi honour at a jolly little farewell party given last evening by her fellow-club members.. The party was held in the club lounge where the flowers were beautifully arranged. Tall vases were filled with blue and pink lupins or pink oriental poppies, while smaller bowls were arranged with pink carnations, heuckera and gerberas, catmint and anchusa. Piano solos were played by Miss Florence Parkinson and were much enjoyed, her items being "Country Gardens" (Percy Grainger), and as an encore the first movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. A clever competition arranged by Miss Frances Nutter was won by Mrs. Thompson. A part of the evening's entertainment which was very much enjoyed was the reading of two sketches by ■ Mrs. 0. O. Moller arvd Miss Helen Ford. In the first sketch, "Square Pegs," by Clifford Bax, Mrs. Moller read. the part of the modern girl and Miss Ford that of the sixteentli cenfury Venetian. The second sketch was "Catherine Parr" by Maurice Baring, and in this Miss Ford read the part of Henry VIII. and Mrs. Moller that of Catherine Parr. During the evening, the leader of the evening section, Miss Zeta Wright, who wore a smart frock in navy blue and mustard shaded stripes with a navy velvet belt, spoke on behalf of the members and wished Miss Wilson a very happy time. Slie aslied her to accept a pretty posy in pink and red* shades, a gift from all the memheru. Miss Helen Ford, also spoke on behalf of the committee, mentioning how much Miss Wilson' s work for the evening section had heen appreciated and assuring her of a, warm welcome home when she returned. Miss Wilson wore a frock of navy blue flowered georgette with pink button trimmings. A light supper was enjoyed by everyone hefore the evening was brought to a close. Among those present were: Miss Zeta Wright, Miss Ella Wilson, Mrs. 0. C. Moller, Miss Helpn Ford, Miss Frances Nutter, Miss Florence Parkinson, Miss Betty Kina, Miss Jean Stevenson, Miss E. Wheeler, Miss Hilda Pope. Miss ATison Black, Misses Johnson. Miss lUarv Lankovsk.v, Miss Phyllig Buck, Miss Jean Robson, Miss Doreen Apsey and Mrs. Thompson.
