Successful Sale of Work

PORANGAHAU, This Day. The Porangahau Ladies' Guild held the annuat sale of work in the town hall on Saturday afternoon. The attraetive features of the function were the competitions in needlework, cooking, flowers, decorative work and handworit, each setcion eliciting a large number of entries. The sale of work was formally opened ,by Mrs. Niblock, who eulogised the efforts of the guild and thanked the competitors for their support. The stall holders were as follow: Produce, Mesdames Forrest, O. Hobson and Hunter and Miss Sargisson; sweets, MescTames Thomas, Thompson and Somerville; cakes, Mrs. Pope; fancy, Mesdames Hobson, Hope, Sherston and Wilder; dip, Mesdames Jackson and Paterson; ice creams, Misses Hansard and Redward; juinble, Mesdames Maroney, Redward and Stoddart. The competitions resulted as follow: NEEDLEWORK SECTION. (Judges, Mesdames Judd and Wilder) Knitted pullover or cardigan: Miss E. Somerville 1, Miss D. Hunter 2, Miss N. Sargisson 3. Plain embroidery (10 years and under) : Queenie . Smith 1, Hine Wharekuru 2, Stella Thomas 3. A danee was held in the evening. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr. Hope and music was supplied by Ross's Orehestra. The prizes won at the sale of work were presented by Mrs. Niblock. Mr. Niblock thanked the Ladies' Guild for their work during the year, and also all who had helped in any way, especially Mrs. Canning, president of the Guild, and Mrs. Lancaster, the secretary
