Why Dr. Hinsley Was Honoured . POPE'S REGARD FOR ENGLAND LONDON, Nov. 19. "It is because of his regard for England that the Pope wishes to have an English cardinal/ ' said -Dr. Arthur Hinsley, the Arohbishop of Westminster, who has just been created a cardinal. "The Pope looks on Englahd as the classic land of liberty, He regrets the
estrangement between Italy and England during the past two _or three years. Quite deflnitely my appointment has no political significance, but there is no doubt that the Pope wishes to promote peace in every way." The Daily Telegraph's correspondent at Vatican City says that the creation of five new Cardinals, including Dr. Hinsley, makes a total of (59 in the Sucred Gollege, leaving only oue vacancy. Such a full college has not been known for some years. Thirtyono will be Italians.
