"RUGBY AT LORD'S"
• V . .WOULD M.C.C. AGREE? HARLEQUINS WISH USE OF , GROUND The suggestion that Rugby football might be played at Lord's, the home of cricket in the heart of London, has aroused the liveliest interest. It is not oroposed, of course, that goal posts should be pitched and matches played across the wicket which will be used for the Test match against th Australians next year, but on the adjoining practice ground. Even this is only a possibility in the minds of the Harlequin Club, and it has only been talked about informally by members of the M.C.C. The Harlequins have their home at Twickenham, and while they could not wish for a better ground it is too large for their requirements. Spectators who rttcnd their matches are lost in the huge* startds, and in the circumstances there is not the proper club atmospbere. So they have been wondering where else they might play, and someone said, "Let's go to Lord's." One is afraid, however, that the cricket auihorities will not be easily persuaded that they can house a football crovvd. Besides, the practice ground would first have to be cquipped for the game. At the present time there is no stand or scating accoiYimodation, and it is doUbtful whether the Harlequins are in a position to bcar the cost. So there rre many difficnlties Tn the way of cuiTying out the idea.
