HOW TO USE HEN MANURE

Heh manure furnishes fertilising elements in concentrated form, and should be mixed with some less active material to incre'ase its bulk, before being staeked or used in the garden. For either light or heavy soil jt may be mixed with wood ashes, using one to three parts of hen manure to one of ashes. . For light sandy soils that are poor. mi'x with three or four times as much loam or leaf mould. For heavy elay use a lighter soil medium in company with the hen mar nure. Ashes of any sort will help to break down the heavy material. Either mix may be used as a topdressing or to be dug in round the plants. As a light scattering of its own account, l'owl manure will not do much harm
