" ' HAMILTON," Last • Night. "The drink problem is one that is over-present aniong our people. I know •that the law does not permit liquor to be supplied to Mapris off licensed premises, but yet it gcts among them," remarked Archdeacon W. Eaiti, of Ngaruawahia, when speaking of tho work of the Mapri mission at the final celebrations. in connection with the iuaugUTation of the •' new Claudelands parish, . He said that he did not know how the Maoris obtained liquor, but it was his- opinion that pakehas were behind "I don't know how this menace 'io our people can be wiped out, but can only hope that the law will ' beamended;in order to xemove the present evil," he added. "It'is tragic to see little children grow-ing up whose parents have been affected by this menace'."
