Good Fields in Majority oi Events FORM REVIEWED
WELLINGTON, This Day. Excepting in two races, the fields are biggdr tlian qsual for tbe Levin Racing Club's annual meeting to-moigow. Several Trentham horses will declqie their engageroents. Twilight Song, Rejected (whose namo has been changed to Informer), Gabriel, Windwarcl, Free Gold (whose owaer consi-dqrefl him too highly weighted), and Liane are certain abgentees, while Crieket, who lias sligUtly ricked a'shoulder, will probably be left at home also. There is a small field m the Levin Handicap, in which The Buzzer will have his first race of the season over jn furlongs. In his two starts so far he has eompeted with the sprinters, but should now be forward enough. Helen Eord's eonsistency, plus her good showings at Masterton, niay be suliicient to make her favourite, and the brilliant run which Mister Quex put in to get third to Kinnoull and Calalogue in the Wainui Handicap at Trentham provide the recommendation for him, Mister Quex also appears in the McDonald MemOrial Handicap, but he may lind it difficult to coiicede weight to the good iilly Wildflower at seven furlongs, while Mit'tie and Airing are both capable of adding to his difiiculties in the same event. Lone Raider may not bo long in showihg a return to form, and if ho does not show up to-morrow he niay pay following at Eeilding. Geira and Lindrum will have their Masterton battle over again in the Hokio Hack Handicap. Both are vtty smart, but the distance and burning courso may suit Geira better. Captain Treville and Cloak are both likely to mn'well in this race, particularly the, former, who is a useful imprO'ver just myf. a-P fliA mnirl Ari p.Irrs.
Sigurd is expected to lose his maiden status to-morrow if he chooses thfe maiden race in pref erence to the hack seven. He ran consistently at Trentham and Riccarton, being several times placed behind good class hacks. It is in his favour that he begins well. He will be ridden by 0. T. Wilson, who. is coming north; for the meeting. Fairy Dale, Rangemore, D&nciiig Eiame aud liuling Spi are other maidens who Have shown recent glimpses of form. Southern Blood at his beat would be something to bet on in the Manakau Hack Hyrdles, but he has been inovmg very scratchily in his work at Trentham. He will bo ridden by A. Lord, as his usual pilot, E. Burgess, has accepted the ride on Camilla Horn. If. Southern Blood is not paraded at his best Even Money, on form, looks the cuost likely, although King's 'Lancer is being mentioned as a very promxslng recruit to hurdling. Great Hope would be improved by his two outings at Trentham and looks the class horse in the hack sprint, but Wagner, who was very unlucky at Trentham where he finished second to RoJ: licker, may keep the Awapuni hack bnsv. Betting will be on the Bingle pool system, and the following horses are likely. to be well supported: — Maiden Race: Sigurd, Eairy Dale, Alloa. Manukau Hurdles: Even Money, Southern Blood, King's Lancer. Weraroa Hack Handicap: Girobdo Royal Romance, Taro. Levin Handicap: The Buzzer, Mister Quex. Mako Mako Hack Handicap: Great Hope, Wagner. Lake Hack Oup: Malibu, Sunny Blonfie, 'Ckatr. McDonald Memorial Handicap: Wildflower, Mittie, Airing. Hokio Hack Handicap: Geira, Lindrum, Captain Treville.
