Presidency Offered To Christchurch - Man FORMER HASTINGS TEACHER

WELLINGTON, Last Nigkt. Tke Governnient kas decided to ask Mr. W. J. Hunter, a well-known Christchurch barrister and solicitor, wkoi has specailised in industrial cases, wketker he will accept office as President of the second Arbitration Court to ke set up under tke amendment to the Industrial Ibonciliation and Arkitratiou Act recently passed by Parliament. This deeision was announced to-day by the Minister of Justipe, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, wbo said tke Government was awaiting Mr. Hunter's reply to the invitation. A -Christchurch message states tkat Mr. William John Hunter j LL.B., is senior partner in the legal firrn of Hunter and Ronaldson, established: in Christchurch in 1§82, and is cliairman -of the city No. 1 Mortgage Adjustment Commissioji appointed this year. He is also hfew Zealand Commissioner for Affidavits in the High Court of Australia and the Australian States. Before entering the legal professlon he was assistant master of the Hastings District High School .and headmaster of the Mangapapa Sehool, Gisborne. He qualined for the legal protession and ( practised for a short time at Levin.
