WELLINGTON, This Day. The followihg prisonei'S were s6nteneed by the Chief Justice: — -Maxwell ErnCst Butler, aged 25, merchanic, for unlawful conversion of a motor-car at Hamilton, two years' reformative treatment, concurrent with twelve months' reformative tfeatment now being scrved; George Clarence Wilson, aged 41, clerk and coolt, for forging a postal liotc, 15 months' reformative treatment; Arthur Haig, aged 20, shop finisher, for failiftg to stop after an accident, two charges, was fined £20 on the first and admitted to two years' probation on' the second. His Honour said that if the priSoner were a person of maturo years he would not hesitate to send him to gaol. The provisions 6f last year's Act were being enforced in the Supreme Court and Magistrate's Court. The prisoner was prohibited 'from driving during his probation, and ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution, £2 5/-. Revel Michalick, picture operator, Dannevirke, for IndecOnt assault at Raetahi, four charges, was given 15 months J reformative treatment.
