H.B. HOSPITAL BOARD

Mrs. D. J. Riggir Will Be a Candidate WOMAN'S POINT OF VIEW Mrs D. J. Riggir, of Maraetotara, who has announced her intention of contesting a seat on the Hawke's Bay Hospital Board at the next local body elections, gave a short address to members of the Napier Townswomen's Guild Luncheon Club yesterday, giving the reasons that prompted her to make the deCision. Mrs Riggir said she thought women should be members of public bodies, as a woman 's ppint o£,view was most essential. ,At the present time tnere was no woman on the Hospital Bpaxd, and that in itself was sufQcienfc reason why there should be one; or more; several would make a greater difference. The living and working conditions of the nurses should be watched and looked into, likewise the care of the patients. Conditions should be so comfortable and pleasant that patients would feel sorry to leave a hospital; and who, mpre than a woman, could feelingly understand and watch the public interest in these things? Concluding, Mrs Riggir stated that there should be wise administration in hospital affairs, and progress with the times.
