> ■!)> > Waipukurau Meeting The November meeting of the Waipukurau Women's Institute was held in the Masonie Hall, Mrs II. Keir presiding over a good attendance. "Thought once awakened, does not slumber again," was the motto for the day. Arrangements were made for the ohildren's Ghristmas party to be held in December, and members were reminded of the institute garden party to be held in February. The roll-eall, "What would you lilce best for Christmas," brought forth some useful suggestions. Mrs J. A. Buchanan gave a most interesting talk on her recent visit to the Ear East, deseribing some of the beautiful buildings whieh she had seen in the various plaees of interest she visited, also tlie customs of the people. Sdi© showed many antique r.elics collected during her tour. At tlie conclusiom, Mrs Buchanan was thanlced for her interesting talk, which had been inueh enjoyed by those present. The results of the montlily competi- ' tions were as follows: — Miniature rock garden on a plate, Miss Peterspn 1, Mrs Peterson 2, Mrs Perkins 3. Best rose bloom, Mrs F. Watson 1, Mrs Peterson 2, Mrs J. Brown 3; novelty deeorated cake, Mrs F. Fraser 1 and 2, Mrs Peterson 3. Pikelets (4), Mrs Fraser 1, Mrs Perkins 2, Mrs Peterson 3; girdle scones (4), Mrs Perkins 1 -and 3, Mrs Peterson 2. Cosy from a felt hat, Mrs Fraser 1, Mrs Perkins 2; thrift artiele, Mrs Fraser 1, Miss Peterson 2, Mrs Perkins 3. _ Refreshing afternoon tea was dispensed by Mesdames A. Young, Bliss, A. Ghapman, Trieker, Arthur, Wallis and Miss Winlove.
