A novel baek stage plot, cliarged with action' and highly humorous situations, forms the background for EKO" Radio 's hilarious musical comedy, "New Faces of 1987," the first of a series of yearly extravaganzas, which 1 screens at the State Theatre to- I night. Joe Penner, Milton Berle, I Parkyakarkus, Hafriet Hilliard, Wil- | liam Brady, Jerome Cowan and Thelma Leeds are featured. Embellishing the story are five colourful production numbers introducing a galaxy of new talent to the screen in scintillating songs, dauces, and novejty acts. Romantic .complieations upset the plans of the producer, who flees just in time to save a show backed with the last 15,000 dollars of a pTetty show actress. Praetieally all of the action takes place backstage, although sceues in an apartment, aboard a train, an automobile ride on a toll bridge, and various street scenes furnish Background diversion. Adventure as only Budyard Kipling could wirte it blazes from the screen in tlie Twentieth Century-Fox picturisgftion of ,liis "Wee Willie Winkie," which screens at thc State Theatre with Shirley Temple and Vietor McLaglen in tho starring roles on Saturday. When the bonnio plaid of Scotland flasbes on India's saffiron liills, and warmad tribesmen striko from Kliyber Pass, when the rifies craclc and the Pathans raid, when the bagpipes skirl and the regiment charges — you '11 know that you're seeing oue of tihe greatest pietures ever made, with a Shirley Temple whose power to stir your emotions will be the wonder of your life.
