Store Sheep in Demand at Hastings Sale TW0-T00IH WETHERS TO 25/6 ' Today's market- for store sheep at Stortford Lodge to-day showed a sharp rise from 1/- to 1/6 a head and bet-^ ter, the selling throughout being firm. The beneficial rain ov-er the week-end Was responsible for a keen demand fois wethers in partieular, for which bidding was brisk. The large draft of 805 September4 shom wethers, offered on account of Mr John Tait, ■ of Waikaka, Waikare, and railed last night, sold to 27/6. Two-tooth wethers in extra forward or* der, on account of McDonald Brol., Pukahu, sold at 25/6. Other good. lines made from- 24/- to 24/3. Two-footh ewes brought 32/8, Aged woolly poor-mouthed ewes, with iambs at foot made 19/6, all counted. All entries were readily sought after, and a good sale resulted throughout. Realisations were as under: — The sale opened -with an offering of 221 shorn two-tooth wethers, in. forward condition, many being ready to - hang up, which made 24/3. A draft of 440 medium-grown, shorn two-tooth wethers, which included »- •few of two-tooth ewes, in quite fair store condition and healthy. passed at 2i/9. , " A line of 221 better-grown, shorn twotooth wethers, in fresh cotidition, sold at 23/-, On account of Mr. john Tait, Waihaha, Waikare, 125 extra early-shora fat and forward, well-framed wethers, • with" a good slipe," sold at 27/6. An eafly-shorn line of 185 extra "Wellgrown two-tooth wethers, in forward condition, heing an attractive line which should hang up shortly as quality mutton, sold at 24j/3. " ' On account of Mr. J. Tait, 266 -earlyshorn wethers in medium to forward order sold at 26/3, An early-shom line of medium-growir twotooth ewes, in forward condition, having. been well wintered, sold at 32/8. An entry of 123 broken to fairm'outhed ewes, with 130 well devbloped Down-cross Iambs at foof,- met the martet at 20/-, all counted. An entry of 54 shorn store ewes, in light store cohdition, brought l4/», On account of McDonald Bros., Pukahu, a line of shorn well-grpwn twotooth wethers, in extra forward order, being a quality line, topped the market af> 25/6. , A further entry of shcrn two-tootK wethers, a little lighter than- tha pre-' vious .line, But in splendid order, brought 24/3. A line of 100 weU-grown, shorn twotooth ewes, m "good! condition and bright, brought 33/-. - Just off the shears, 127, 'small-grown two-tooth" ewes,..in light condition, sold at 28/3. . A further line of early-shora, well•framed wethers, on account of Mr, John Tait, in' good store order, sold at '25/3. ' ' ' -
