Successful Trial of Waipukurau Installation

WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. • "The installation of the wireless in the primary school is now almost completed and to-day a trial was made during the educational broadcast from Wellington," said the headmaster of the Waipukurau School, Mr Y. Parsona, at the meeting of the school committee last night. "The reeeption was good and I am confident that we shall have an instal lation in our school that will more than repay the efi'orts of the committee and the Home and School League, ' ' continued the headmaster. "Its value -is an aid to the education of the children is undoubtedly great. We have the chC ie of the educational broadeasts from the various stations as well as gr&mophone records, and talks to tho children, which cab be operated at the school. "I have made arrangements for a series of talks by businessmen in the town to the pupils in the secondary school. This should give the pupils an insight into the business world and aid them in choosing a career. Mr F. J. Dunbar, the manager of the Bank of New Zealand, gave a talk to the commorcial class on some featur.es of banking. Mr A. F. Cook gave an address on tho growing of bulbs for show and for commereial purposes, to be followed later by the actual planting and care of bulbs. Mr Watson has undertaken to givo us a talk on taxation." Commenting on the headmaster 's report, the chairman remarked that it was nice to see businessmen giving some time to addressing school children, and on his suggestion a vote o* thanks was carried to Messrs Dunbar and Cook for the instructive talks they had given.
