Mr and Mrs H. Stovell, Waipukurau, - are visiting Wellington. Mrs J. A. McLean, Waipukurau, is": visiting Wellington. Mr John'Hames, who has been waterworks mechanie for the W ai-s-pukurau Borough for the past nine" years, tondered his Tesignation to . the ; Waipukurau Borough Council at il s i meeting last night. Mr H. Murray wafi appointed to take his place. Mr J. G. Bromell, a member of tho Waipukurau Borough Council, is at pre« sent an inmate of the District H'os-: pital, Waipukurau. A motion of sym* pathy with hina was passed at tne meeting of the council last night. The sympathy of a large number of friends will be extended to Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Fredericksen, of Norsewood, iu the death of their inf ant daughter, Phyllis May. The funeral, v/hich took place at the Norsewood Cemetery on Sunday was well attended. Salvation Army officers conducting the service at the graveside. Mrs J. M. Coutts, who is leaving Takapau at about the end of the monthj — Dr. Coutts having taken over the' practice at Martinborough — was farewelled by a number of her friends on; Saturday at an afternoon given for; that purpose by Mrs.N. C. Wylie. A; very pleasant time was spent in com-i petitions, etc. A presentation of a cry- ' stal vase from those present was made' .to -Mrs Coutts, at a parting token qij the esteem in which she was held and' in making the presentation- Mrs Caugh-; ley wished the'recipient all success and; happiness in her hew home. Mrs Caugh- i ley expressed the appreciation of those; present to Mrs Wylie for givihg* themj the opportunity of saying farewell to t Mrs Coutts, who suitably responded. ;
