WELLINGTON, Last Night. • The publicity given the case of the Dunback, Otago, boy, Frank Murphy, aged 12, who, as a result of a public subscrip'tion, was able to be sent to England with his mother to undergo an operation on the brain, prompted a Wellington mother to refer to the case of her son, William Jensen, aged 15, who was operated on successfully in Wellington. The moijher's point is , that brain surgery can be done. in New Zealand, and is being done, a fact which inquiries confirm. The boy was a sufferer, Mrs Jensen says, for some years. In September of this year an operation on his brain was carried out by Dr. H. K. Corkill, of Wellington, and it was eminently suceessful. Whether Jensen's case is precisely on all fours with that of the lad Murphy, inquiries in Wellington have been unable to make elear, but his was also a brain operation. Frank Murphy apparently was not sent to Wellington for an examination and only passed through here on his way to England. His operation in England was performed hy a New Zealander, Mr Hugjh Cairns, and although since them it has been reported from Dunedin that, on Oetober 13, Mr Cairns stated there had been a decided improvement in the boy's condition, it was stated to-day that, from a medical point of view, there had been a great seareity of inforjnation since the operation.
