THE EMPIRE FEELING
"The intense feeling of those crowds was something that one just cannot explain," said Dr. Alan Tonnant, who was medical officer to the New Zealand Coron&tion Contingent, when speaking to the Wellington Eotary Club on the emotions aroused in the crowds by the various scenes of the Coronation. "It made one xealise — or that was how it affected me — that the people of England had got the Empire feelipg, and that the Empire still stood for something. With Europe anything %ut stable, thrones being overthrown, and finances tottering, England still stood solid and stable for the representatives of all coilntries in the glober giathered together in London to see."
