BISHOP ASKS CANON DART FOR EXPLANATION
(Received 15, 8.45 a.m.) LONDQN, Nov. 13. The Bishop of Fulliam has requested -a report from Canon Dart explaining the incident in which he was involved with the Duke of Windsor. He says that apparently Canon Dart's remarks were meant to be private, and in view of this he does not expect that action or comments from him a-'e necessary. Canon Dart is 'credited with saying that neither the Bishop of Fulham nor any other authority has any right t.o demand an explanation of his conduct toward the Duke of Windsor. The British Legion at Paris has invited the Duke of Windsor to its annual dinner on December 3. ' Later; The Bishop of Fulham, who has jurisdiction over St. George's, Paris, expresses himself satisfied that Canon Dart intended no public discourle'sy to the Duke of Windsor. He adds ,that the trouble arose through publication of a private conversafion and might be allowed to drop.
