Mr. Justiee Ostler returned to Wellington from the Napier-Gisborne Supreme Court circuit during the weekend. Mr J. W. Mawson, Town Planning Advisor, of Wellington, who has beev. visiting Gisborne, Hastings and Napier, left Hastings during the week-end upon his return to. Wellington. Mr C. O. Carrell, Hastings borough health and .building inspector, left Hastings during the week-end for Wellington. and Christchurch ou annual leave. He was accompauied by Mrs Carrell. General Wauchope, High Commissioner for Palestine, is making good progress fr.om his indisposition and is expected to sail from Marseilles on Saturday, arriving at. Port Said the following Wednesday. — Ufficial Wireless. Miss J. P. Northe, Hastings, has been appointed by the Hawke's Bay Hospital Board as full-time dispenser at the Memorial Hospital, and commenced her duties to-day. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Eferrick, of Hastings, leave on Thursday on the Rangitiki on a business trip to England. Lady Galway, on her way from Wellington to Waikaremoana, will stay to-night with Mr. and Mrs. Herrick. " Mr. W. H. Horton, superyisor of the greens research committee to the New Zealand Goif Association, is visiting Hawke's Bay. , While in Napier he will be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. F, D. Logan, Colenso Hill. Mr. John Talbot, of Gisborne, who has been studying at St. John's Theological College, has passed grades 3 and 4 in the examination under the Board of Theological Studies. He is to be ordained deacon in Napier on December 19, and will be working in St. Augustine's parish, Napier. Mr. Kenneth W. Aimer, of -Auckland, has been awarded the gold medal presented by the New Zealand Institute of Architects for 1936 for his design of the Marino Gardens Flats at Mount Eden. The award is made by a jury of the Royal Institute of British Architects in London, and the medal will be presonted at the annual meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Institute, to be held *his week. A resolution of condolence to the relatives of the late Mr G. W. Venables, of Napier, was passed by members of the Napier Harbour Board. The ckairman, Mr T. M. Geddis, in paying a tribute to the public service given by Mr Venables said he represented Napier on the board from 1925 to 1927 durjng which pcviod . he was keenly interested in the affairs of the board. Mr Venables was a man of sterling qualities. Mr. E. J. Herrick, of Hastings, who leaves this week on a business trip to England, was to-day granted six months' leave of absence by the Napier Harbour Board of which body he is deputy chairman. The chairman, Mr. T. M. Geddis, in extending the good wishes of members of the board, expressed the hope that Mr. Herrick would return fit and well to further assist in the interesting undertaking in which all were associated.
