North Island Association Meeting REMUS DISCUSSED

PALMERSTON N., Last Night. r ! ,The North Island Poultry, Pigeon and Cage Bird Association, which is a controlling anthority of recognised. poultry, pigeon and cage bird shows in the North Island held its 3oth annuai conference on Saturday. The following delegates were present Tepresenting their clubs: J. H. Kissling, president [(Poverty Bay P.P. and C. Association, proxy), E, J. McLaron (Auckland Game Club), R. Salt and W, 0. Gould (Hutt Valley Poultry Society), G. C. Thornton (Hastings Poultry Society), A. E. Burgess (Manawatu Poultry Association), and P. D. "Wills, J". Bainbridge, J. Smith (local couneil members acting as proxies), W. H. Barker and. J. Howeil (Hawera Poultry Club and Taranaki Leghorn Club), Walter Jones (Taranaki A. and P, Society, New Plymouth), J. MeLaren (Whangarei Poultry Club), J, Patterson (New Zealand Orpington Club), J. Rlliott (New Zealand Poultry Judges' Society), J. C. Nesfield (Auckland Poultry Club), and the secretary, R. J. Gregg, representing the Bay of Plenty Poultry Society. The balance-sheet xevealed an jn-. creased credit of £13 for the year. Australorp Standard. — Introduced by fche Judges' Society tha following Temit was carried arising as an amendment from the. Hutt Valley Poultry Society: "That subject to agreement by South •Island Association, the photographs published in the English standard be adopted as the New Zealand ntility Btandard for this breed." It was decided that after suitable blocks had been made all judges and clubs be sent copies of these photpgraphs in an endeavour to eecure more satisfaction and a greater distinction between the Australorp and the Utility Black Election of Poultry Judges. — Auckland requested that the present lists be tevised and it was decided that all present lists be cancelled and that judges be re-elected for the 1938 lists. A xule to the effect that a judge must be elected by the poultry clnb in his own district, is to be strictly enforced excepting that any society may obtain a licence toi procure the services of any judge for one particular show. Specialist clubs may eleet jjudges for such breed as the club caters for. Cash Specials. — It was decided that when cash specials are awarded with North Island championship pxizes that ' these be given irrespective of the number of entries; also that the xotational' system of awarding these champion-^ ships be continued. Youhg Bird Shows. — The rule governing the date of young bird shows was amended so that these may be held any time before the end of April. Leg Bands.— A council remit that in, future all affiliations must include in their schedules that exhibits may carry; one leg band or ring of any kind, was ®arried. Present regulations impose upon judges the necessity of making their awards within a strict weight limit and it was 'plea,ded tSat this eauses iudrfferent judging at times. At the same time most delegates agreed that winning birds must be within the weight limits.
