October Figures &t Napier There were 28 shippxng arriyals at Napier during the inonth of October, ' five in the inner h&rbour, 18 at thO bteakwater, and five i'n the roadstead. The tofcal registered tonnage handled at the harbour was 30,803, comparcd with 37,001 last year, and 37,388 the previous year, not incllding lighterage tripS nor removals. The earnings of the wharfage and harbour-master 's department for the month ended October 31 are as follows, the figures for the saine . period last year being given in parenthesis: — Wharfage (imports), £1934 (£1927); wharfage (exports) £.772 (£906); berthage, £202 (£264) ; " storage, £20 (£30) ; sundries, £215 (£255); cargo handling, £177 (£132); h^rbour-piaster's, fees, ■£649 (£832); total, £3837 (£4394)— 557 less than last year. Imports and exports for the months are given hereunder, with figures for the corresponding period of the »ast two years: — • Imports: General cargo, 5342 tons (5121 and 5246); coal and coke, 1734 (1848 and 1230); Government coal 693 (954). Exports: General cargo 1280 tons 0773 and 1977); wool, sltins, flax, hemp and tow, 177 bales (2860 and 856) ; beef, 295 tons (406 and ' 348) 5 mutton, 85,836 carcases (17,651 and 13,, 375); lamb, 17,428 carcases (2857 and 39,342); tallow, pelts and hides, 138 tons (242 and 208); dairy produce, 291 tons (439 and 786). • •
