Annual Meeting Held at Hastings Preceded by the annual festival and service, the annual meeting of the Girls' Friendly Society was held in St. Matthew's Church, Hastings, on Wednesday evening, more tkan 100 attend- ■ ing.. Following an address by his Lordship, the Bish'op of Waiapu, the Rt. Rev. Henry Williams, n the G.F.S. motto, "Bear Ye One Another's Burdens", the festival service. was condncted by Canon 0. Mortiiner-Jones. ' The election of offieers resulted: President, Mrs 'Williams, viee-presidents, Mesdames J. B. Brocklehurst, R. W. Hansard, H, Fannin, T, H. Lowry, Y, J. W. Langley, M. F. "This branch i.s the ontstanding fea* ture of tho Girls' Friendly Society work in this d'acese," comments the annual report in its reference to the St, Mattliew's branch. ''Their activities and iuterests are "$ide, in helping their church funds, mission funds, and the siclc and needy. " They aro a band of keen Avorkcrs; always hapjly and cheerful, and liave also a good' membership. Thoy are to be admired, and deserve great appreciation in keeping their flag at the mastliead. Miss Millie Dalton is a most encrgetie secretary and an inspiration to her members. She is a vcry busy young woman who gives up much of her spare tiuie and is to be congratulated on the contjnued suceess of her branch. ' . "The St. Matthew's Lodge building fund now atands at £1889 16/11."
