AUCKLAND, Last Night. Proposals for raising the stipends of ministers and married ordained home niissionaries by £20 antd £18 respectively wero discussed by the Presbyterian General Assembly to-day. A scheme was presented by a special committee to provido means.. Beyond tho extension of the church budget for raising and stabilising stipends, the scheme provides for a central fund for the maintenance of the ministry. The convener of the committee, the Eev. A. Macfarlane, of Southland, said tliat 128 ministers were reeeiving loss than the proposed minimum of £300 per annum. On the motion of Dr. Salmond, of Dunedin, it was deeided to refer the recommendations to the sessional committee to report back to the present sessioa of th§ awembly.
