Described as a silver bettor, Arthnir McKenzie, married, aged 47, appeared before the Magistrate^ Mr Morgan, in the Timaru Court this morning and pleaded guilty to carrying on the busB ue'ss of a hookmaker at Timaru. He was fined £15 aud given a fortnight iu. whieh to pay. > The poliue said it was his' first offence. It was understood McKenzie, who was in a small way, was acting a3 agent for a man operating on a large scale. 5
