FAVOURITES WIN Begorrah's Success in Hurdles IVAR'S JUVENILE The Napier Park Raeing Club held its spring meetihg to-day at GreohmeadoWs in duil and showefy weather. The course was in exceilent condition. There was a moderate attendattce. Satisfactory1 fields competed and sOm© interesting raeing was witnessed. Mr A. V. O'Bfien, Wellington, was in the judge'S bdx. Th© fields tver© deSpatched by Mr A. Vincent. To-day Was the first meetihg with the new secretary, Miss I. I. Fippard, and the arrangements were all that could be desired for a first-class aftef noon 's sport. The sihgl© pool maehin© was in operation on the totalisator. (Winner ttained by H. S. Grcene, Greenmeadows.) Bothwell took no part- in th© face, going wide off the field before the first ]ump. Hunter 'S Morn, Top Hat and Begorrah were ehfly leaders, the favourite leading the others oif and going into the back streteh ahead of Top Hat, Hunter 's Morn, Rapa Wihta. There was little change in positions as a result of raeing across the top, Where the leaders ' were almost on terms. Jumping splendidly, Top Hat and Begorrah led to th© hom-e turn, 'out the pair eutered the straight together. Ber gorrah soon drew clear, leading - Ovef the last fence with Cletrao ciosc up. Iii an exeiting xace to the pbst the favour* ite held off Cletrac by a neck in a hhrd finish. Rapa Waiata was third half a length away agd Mahala fourth. Time; 2.55 1-5, TRIAL STAKE& .. . Wilful Lady, Daryill and Triplel were all badly left. Quihiper Was first to show out "but soon lost the lead to Guidiug Light, who led from Flame Queen, Oha, hnd Star Lad. Roundifig the home bend, Quimper, Tommy Atking and Wilful Lady all came Tou'nd in a heap. AmOroSo led into the straight from Flame Queen, Oha ahd Star Lad. The leaders staged a great race to the post, the favourite jiist managing to gain the deeision by a short head from Amoroso, Flame Queen being almost level for third. Oha was a close fourth. Time, 1.2. JUVENILE HANDICAP. Of £100; 4 furlongs. 1 IVAR Mr F. Ormond 's b.g. Beau Pere— High Art (Forsyth) 1 2 Beaupartiei; (Atkins) 8.2 ...... 2 3 Screen Lord (Andereon) 7.13 •* 3 (Winher trained by S. J. Reid, Hasitings.) AlSo started: 5 Gold Chase (Walsh) 8.2, 4 Merry Simon (Callahan) 8.2, 8 Sardu (McNaughton) 7.11, 7 Lady Furst (Stowe) 7.1, 6 Laughing Song 7.7 (Marsh) 7.7, Lady Furst did not get away with the field, and the race resulted in a further triumph for the Beau Pere stock. Beaupartier wa/s the best away from Screen Lord, but Ivar Was soou ihtO second place. The xace resolved itself into a contest between Ivar and Beaupartier, the favourite prevailing in a heck-and-neck contest by a neck. Screen Lord was third, three lengths back, aud Merry Simon fourth. Time, 49 2-5secs. C. Plier, rider of Tommy Atkihs> Who fell ih the buhch in the Trial Stakes, was removed to the Napier Hospital.
