Large Area in Scotland Bought by Crown
(Received 13, 8.45 a.m:) EUGBY, Nov. 11. A castle, six villages and 90,000 acres of land in Scotland, inpludiag seven famous grouse moors, 449 farms and small holdings and 3764 aeres *of woodlands, have been purchased by th© Commissioners of Crown Lands from the Duke of Richmond and Gordon. The property forms the greater part of the Duke's estates in Mofayshire and Banffshire and covers about 140 square miles. The commissioners have ptirchased the property as a permanent lnvestment, taking over the estates as a going concern. The purchase price is not disclosed. The tenants are not to be disturbed and the employees will he retained. The duke, who parted with the property with great reluetance, states increasihg taxation and death duties compelled him to do so.
