Moving the second reading of tho Broadcasting Amendment Bill, the leader of the Council, Hon. M. Eagan, refej-red to the development of.broad-' casting in New Zealand and quoted figures to show the number of lice'nses in the country . was approximately 270,000, which meant New Zealand was the fourth country in the world in density of-radio sets in comparison, Hon. F. Waite referred to tho Government control of broadcasting,. and said ho wanted to xegister the protest of the Parmers ' Union, which had been prevented from stating its vicws over the air. Other spcalters all supported the Bill. The debate was adjourned until nest .Tuesday.
