MR.
The death occurred in Hastings of Mr George Ladbrook, Jate of Canterbury and Southland, at the age of 88 years, following injuries sustained in a fall. Mr Ladbrook was born in Auckland in 1849, and at the age of four years arrived in Christchurch, travelling over the Bridle Path from Lyttelton. The family settled at Lincoln and in the district which is now known by 'bheir name. Later Mr George Ladbrook wenfc to Southland "where ho lived untii 1914. In 1887 he won a silver medal and cup for the besfc ploughman, awarded by the Waimea Ploughing Match Association. One of Mr Ladbrook's main interests was in church rvork and he was a foundation member of the Church of Christ 69 years ago. Mr Ladbrook was married in Christchurch in 1875 to Miss Hannah Maria Sycamore. Th© couple celebrated their diamond wedding in Hastings in July, 1935. There were nine children of the marriage and the occasion of the diamond wedding was the first timo that the whole family had been together for ,37 years. Mrs Ladbrook survives her husband. He leaves six sons and three daughters, Mesdames E. West (Invercargill), A. Christianson (Hastings), and H. Douglas (Dunedin), and Messrs Oharle3 John (Invercargill), Frederick (Syden- . ham), Robert Edward (Nelson), William George (Inglewood), Walter Henry (Hastings), and James Arthur (Rotorua).
