TARADALE TOWN BOARD
Business at Monthly Meeting The monthly meeting of the Taradale Town Board was held last ni^lit. Present: J. Williamson (chairman), J. B. Wainscott, J. Gilmour, F. O. Anderson, J. A. Willcinson, W. H. C. Howard and G. Webb. . The Taradale Cricket Club was grahted the use of the Taradale Park for the present playing season. A permit was granted for the erection of a new d .velling estimated to cost £800 for Mr D. W. B. Stewart. The chairman reported that good progress was being made with tlie work of the Kennedy road- extension and the board was not likely to be saddled with a much greater expenditure than the original allocation )f £75 made again st tlie board. Mr. Wilkinson took exeeption to the Transport Licensing Authority in excluding the H.B. Motor Co. from picking up passengers from the Soldiers' Memorial to the camping ground in its special licence on Show Bay, without first referring the. matter to the board. He stated that a number of residents wero greatly inconvenienced by this action. Mr G. Webb pointed out that both tbe companies interested signed an an agreement which was approved by# tho Licensing Authority. The II.B. Motor Co. having been a party to bhe agreement, had no complaint againstthe liccnce issuei. Mr Wilkinson said tbat tho agreement was cntercd into practically under compulsion. Ile considered that such applications in futurc should be first referred' to the board to see if they would.be in the interests of the ratepayers. A motion on these lines was agrced to. >
