Annual Meeting of H.B.-P.B. Centre ELECTION OF OFFICERS Satisfaction with the financial position, and appreciation of the work of the chairman, Mr N. A. McKenzie, and the socretary, Mr A. C. Bird, were the keynoteg of Mr A. Mclvor's presidential address at the annual meeting of the Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association in Napier last night. The following delegates attended: Messrs A. Mclvor (in the chair) > J. W. Norrie, N. A. McKenzie, P. Robson, E. A. Mosley, C. White, A. Clough, E. Algie and J. Attwood. Mr Mclvor paid tribute to the work of the secretary and the chairman, both of whom had worked wholelieartedly in the interests of the centre. Despite the satisfaetory state of the centre 's affairs, all was not , entirely well, and he had noticed a decline in inteiest. He appealed for greater activity in furthering tho sport. Although the financial position was improved, the centre was by no means rich and expenditure would have to be carefully watched.More Enthusiasm Needed. Mr McKenzie expressed appreciation of the work of the treasurer, Mr Norrie. While agreeing that there might be more enthusiasm shown, he thought that all would be well. Oflicers Elected. Tho followinr oflicers were elected: Patroness, Mrs A. Holden; president, Mr Molvor; vice-presidents, Messrs H F. Forster (Gisborne), G. A. Maddison (Hastings), J. Mason (Napier) and F. Stewart (Bannevirke) ; delegates to New Zealand A.A.A., Messrs A. L. Stevens and H. McCormack; local officers, Messrs A. D. Lvnch (Napier), Barker (Gisborne) and E. Bethel (Bannevirke) and a Hastings member to be nominated by Ihe clubj chairman, Mr McKen,zie; hon. auditOr, Mr W. Anderson; hon treasurer, Mr Norrie; hon. secretary, Mr Bird; hon. solicitor, Mr J. Mason; emergency committee, Messrs J. Mclvor, McKenzie, Norrie, Bird and P. Robson. Application was made by the . Taradale R.S.A. to have the third Saturday in February allotted the date for their annual sports. In view of the centrc championshipg being held on the last Saturday of that month it was decided to a'sk the Taradale club if tho sccond Saturday would suit. 1938-39 N.Z. ■ Championships. It was decided that the centre apply again. i'or the New Zealand track and field championships for the 1938-39 season. It was also decided to apply for the New Zealand championship 100-mile road cycle race to be held in HawkV's Bay. An application from the Bannevirke club to hold theij; annual sports on January 15 was received, and it was decided to inform the club that this date had been allotted fco Makaretu, but that January 8 and January '29 were available. A grant of £6 15/- was made to the Gisborne club in connection with their out-of-pocket expenses involved at the last championship meeting. Tho secretary was granted an honorarium .of 9gus. The centre championships were set down to be helJ at Napier on February 26.
