WELLINGTON, This Day. The Arbitration Court has made its award in the New Zealand carpenters and joiners* dispute in terms of the agreement reached jn the Oonciliation Council, wages being 2/9 an hour froin Heptember 8 and 2/9$ from Septembe* 15. The majority of builders have been paying the "new Tates smce the agreement was reached. Conditions attached are: That certain parties should be temporarily struck out and that argument should be heard later as to' whether they should be parties to the award. If the Court decides that they should, the rates of pay should be retrospective to (September 15. That the clause concerning the fixing of reinforcing steel wallboards and wire-notting should be temporarily struck out, argument to be lieard later when the Tespeetive awards involved in this clause when the plasterers' and metalworkers * dispute is before the Court. That the clause concerning work anlid acid conditions in fertiliser companies should also be temporarily struck out. On behalf of the New Zealand Car-; penters' and Joiners' Federation, Mr M'Oulton objected to the striking oqt of the parties, but agreed to the proposal temporarily for the sake of having the award made.
