Lord Halifax May Approach Berlin FRANK TALK WITH HITLER
(By Telegraph-
-Oopycislit.)
(Received 12, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 11. Oommenting on publislied reports to the effect that he would visit Germany shortly to discuss the existing relations between Britain and Germany, Viscount Halifax, Lord Presfdent of the Council, stated that the reports probably arose from the invi.tation to him, in his capacity of Master of the Hounds, to visit a hunting exbibition in Berlin and also join a shooting party. Lord Halifax said that he had not yet decided to accept, but if ho went to Berlin he would take the opportunity of engaging in such political contacts as might be convenient. The diplomatic correspondent of tbe Daily Herald suggests that the invita tion to attend the hunting exhibition is mere camouflage. He says that Lord Halifax' s mission is to ascertain exactly what Germany wants in the matter of. colonies. Cabinet would then decide whether there was any possibility of a settlement. The diplomatic correspondent of the Daily Mail states:— "Mr. Neville Chamberlain plans to send Lord Halifax to Germany i'or a l'rank talk with Hierr Hitler with aegard to AngloGerman relatious. The decision was made after a discussion among the members of Cabiuet, in the hope tliat it might be . possible to establish, by iilformal contact, a friendly atiuosphere for the consideration of outstandipg European problems, including that of the coloniea.''-
