WELLINGTON, Tliis Day. An allegation that some of th« higher-paid officers in the Post and Telegraph service were monopolising overtime at the expense of others ou lower salaries was made by Mr. A. S. Riuhards (Government, Roskill) , during the discussion on the estimates of the Post and Telegraph Department m tlie House of Representatives yesterday. "Everything is not liappy ainong a ^ certain section of the service,"- Mr. Ricliards said. "A restoration of. tho salaries of some of the higher-paid officers lias taken place without a similar restoration being granted to men on lower salaries who actually do the ( work. In addition, some of the lowerpaid men are not beirig given ..the amount of overtime they received formeriy, because it is being monopolised by the officers on higher salaries." The Postmaster-General, the Hon. F. Jones, stated that tiie question of the salaries of some of the iower-paid members of the service had caused the 1 Government some concefn, but reclassiiication was now taking -place along with tlie consideration of. salaries.
