AUCKLAND, This Day. ' Joha H*oratio Hayward, of Maunu, ^Whangarei, a'director of the Farmers' Trading Co., Ltd., was killea ihstantly -this morning, when Ms sedan car camo into collision with. a light delivery van driven by Mr W. Burrell, of Papatoetoe, on an intersection at Otahuhu. Mr Hayward's car, which. carried as pasfcengers Mr A. A. Itoss, chairman of flirectors of the Farmers ' Trading Co., and Mr H. H. E. Worsp, chairman cf direetors of the Auckland ranners' $*reezing Go., was proceeding southward. The vehicles xnet in "violent collision. Ihe bonnet of the van striking the centre of car near the Tear of the driver 's seat. The car turned a complete somersault and * was badly damaged, while the headlaxnps of the yan were smashed, and the miudguards badly dented. The driver of the van and the pasfcengers in the car escaped with a severe ihaking. An inquest was opened at Otahuhu hnd was adjourned after evidence of Identification. The collision brought to a tragic end Ihe direetors' fishing trip to Taupo. They were on their way to 30m the ananaging-director of the Farmers ' Trading Co., Mr R. A. Laidlaw, for a holiday at his fishing lodge and wer #' fntending to return on Sunday.
