Store Cattle Quiet at Waipukurau FATS SELL BETTER
Another lifeless sale for" store cattle was experiienced at Waipukurau today 'when a moderate yarding was most difiicult to trade. Dry weather conditions in both Hawke's Bay and outside districts accounted for the .little competition being shown in .which buyers were indifferent as to making purchases. The yarding included some Well bred lsnes of yearlings . which. were well coated, but at the figures made mcst of them were passed. Among the older lines buyers were not given any range for selectiou and selling for these was very quiet. One line of grown bullocks in good store eondition were passed at £9 7/6. Young cows in light eondition with ealves at foot brou^ht £7 5/-. Until feed eondition definitely improve there is little hope of a better market ruling. ■ The fat cattle pens contained some better quality than that offered at late saies and for the best entfy good competition was forthcoming, due to the presence of some of the Hastings butchers. Ox beef brought 32/- per 1001b., medium grown yohng bullocks sellingto £12. Heifers made to £11 4/-, but many of the female pens were unfinished and made good selling at the 'value made. • • Relisations are as f ollow r — FAT ,CATTLE.. .. STORE OATTLE. On account ' of Whakamutu station, 62 medium-grown Ab'erdeen-Angus-Hereford cross yearling" stebrs, ih light eondition, many being in rather poor order, were passed at £5 10/ -. An eritry of 16' young' AberdeenAngus cross cows, showing 'iiard eondition, with. a similar number of calves at foo't, were passed >at £7 *.&/-• DoAvn of th'e Totara hills,* 34 yearling Aberdeen-Angus heifers,, by a Hereford bull, out of Gwavas cows, - brought £3 17 /-. These heifers, altliouglU medium gxown and an light eondition, were well-coated, showing good breeding. Of the sarne property, 30 clean-bred late yearling Hereford steers, which were small grown and light, but well coated,, met the market at £4 13/-. An entry of 17 medium-grown twoyear Aberdeen-Angus steers, in light eondition, sold at £7 10/-. ; On account of Mr. C. R. Edgecombe, an entry of four-year Aberdeen-Angus-Hereford cross bullocks, in,good store eondition and- ready for finishing, were passed at £9 7/6. . ; FAT SHEEP. ... In from Hatuma, . 19 , early-shorn welbfinished medium-framed good-' culling ewes sold at 19/-. The following pen of lighter finished , ewes, early shorn,. were passed* at 18/-. A bid of 17/1 was offered, for 21 medium finished well framed shorn eWes. A further pen of .heavier extra prime ewes early, shorn sold at 1P/2. STORE SHEEP, In from Ongaonga and on account of Mrl E. C.
