Mr. Savage Busy with the Session IMPORTANT LEGISLATION

WELI2N GTON, Last Night. It is extremely doubtful whether the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. *M. J. Savage, will be able to attend the celebratlons of the 150th anniversary of Australia in Sydney nest yeaT. It has already been stated in a Press cablegram from Sydney that Mr Savage is among guests to attend the ofiicial cele* brations, but in an ifiterview this evening the Prime Minister stated he . did not thihk he would be fible to mahe the trip. "We shall be in the_middle of the session oi Parliament w£en the celebratiops aTe being held in Sydney," Mr Savage said, "ahd I do not see how I can possibly mahe arrangements to be absent from Kew Zealand. Legislation of considerable importance wi-H be plaeed before the House of Representatives and my job will be to be present -while that legislation is passed. "'Pa my capaeity as Prime Minister I should be delighted to attend _ the celebrations, which will be historie as far as Anstralia is concernecL Howevdr, even if I am nnable to 'be present, we shall see to it that New Zealand is adequately represented, and that th«> . greetings and congratulations ' of . the Domrnion aTe extended to the Commonjrealth on a memorable occasion."
