WINDSOR CASTLE

NOW A SUNSHINE HOME Windsor Castle is now a sunshine home, as the result of changes made ' by the Queen. The dark, heavy velvet,curtains in tht Royal apartments have been replaced with light brocade. The new carpets, hangings and chair coverings are in the Queen's favourite colours, pastel greens, blues and pinks. Some of the antique furniture has been removed to make . the rooms airier. The King, however, insisted that his rooms remain as , his father ,left them. Even the pens on the study desk have not been touched. The Queen is hPving the nursery extended to accommodate the Duke of Kent's children, who will be frequent visitors. . 1 . It is expected that the Royal Family will spend week-ends at Windsor. Heretofore the castle has been used only five weeks in the year. Enthusiastic crowds cheered the King and Queen at Ballater station recently when they entrained for the -south at the end of 68 days' holiday at Balmoral. The Foreign Secretary (Mr. Anthony Eden) travelled by- the Royal train.
