Mr. A. C. Holms Charged by Power Board Chairman SEQUEL TO LETTER

WAIPUKURAU, This Day. Strong objection to a letter written by Mr. A. C. Holms, a member of tbe Central H.B. Electric Power Board, lo the Herald-Tribune was voiced uy members of the boar.d af to-day's meeting. Tbe letter arose out of a discussion on tbe water-pumping problem, at tbe last meeting of tbe rioard. It was characterised by members at today's meeting as "intended to cloud the issuo" and exjrrossing views which were not tbose of tbe board. Tbe discussion resulted in a heated conflict between Mr. Holms and other members of tbe board, at tbe conclusion of wbicb Mr. Holms resumed his seat remarking to tbe chairman: "You always seem to want to misunderstand me deliberately." "No member of the board knows better than you, Mr. Holms, tbat this -board cannot define tbe peak bours of tbe Borough Council," said tbe chair.man, Mr. A. C. Russell. "Your letter in tbe Herald-Tribune was, I thought, ratber a matter of stabbing tbe board in the back. You should not come baek like tbat on tbe board in controversies of this sort. You are doing very wrong in having letters like that published. Mr. Holms: I'm not doing wrong., Mr. W. S. Chambers: But tbe views you have expressed in tbat letter are not tbose of tbe board. Mr. Holms: We require tbe borough council to watcb tbe peak .bours for themselves. Mr. Russell: No we don't. ' Mr. Chambers: This letter said we -tfantcd thcm to fix tbe peak hours. We have dono tbat. There was no mention of watching them. Mr. W. JI. Ratbbone said be did not like tbe way Mr. Holms bad alluded to tbe matter in brackets as "a difficult problem." "It's not a difficult problem. It's simply impossible.'* Mr. R. S. Fraser; Of course its impossible. Mr. Russell: You. have thrown a doubt in tbe minds of tbe people of tbe borough by your letter. Mr. Holms: Ob, well you seem to know every thing, Mr. Chairman. You are very well informed. Mr. Russell: Your letter certainly seemed to be intended to cloud tbe issue. ' „ Mr. Holms: I have no intention of doing so. You always want to misunderstand me deliberately. Tbe matter was tben dropped.
