Young Man Kilied, Two Others Injured ACCIDENT IN THE S0UTH

DUNEDIN, Last Nigbt, One person was killed and two otbers seriously injured wben a five-seater tourer car which was proceeding from^ Greenfield to Balclutha early this morning struck a post when approaching fihe Waitahuna bridge and somersaulted into the Waitahuna rivcr'. The victmi* were;— » . . KILLED/ • Yictor Gray, of Benhar, aged 17, INJURED, Robert Paterson and James Sheehy, botb of Balclutha. • . Shortly after two o'clock tbe car, ' driven by Mr Paterson, left Greenfield for Balclutha and when approaching the Waitahuna bridge on the BalcluthaClydevale road it struck a post on the road, somersaulted and landed on the edge of the Waitahuna river, a drop'of approximately 30 fect. Messrs Paterson and Sheehy were seriously injured and conveyed to the Balclutha Hospital, but Mr Gray, whose body was lying face downwards under the car, was found to be dead. It ie' thought that he had been smothered by the sloppy mixture of mud and water in wfhieh be was found lying. Deeeased, who came to New Zealand about four years ago, had no relatives in the Dominion, his parents being dead. He had been engaged in farming work and at the timo of his death was werking for Mr P. McSkimmi'ng, of Benhar.
