METHODIST GIRLS' BIBLE CLASS FAREWELL THEIR LEADER
Nofc a dull momenfc was left afc the soeial evening tendpred Mrs C„ G. Cunnold by tbe members of the Methodisfc senior girls' Bible class Hasfc week. Tha Toom was decorated witb tall vases of Ic eland poppies and leuchera and low bowls of pansies, and festooned witb streamers wbich, witb the bright frocks wom by tbe girls, piade a colourful setting for tb© bappy gatbering, though the evening was a very happy one, the occasion had in it a tinge of regret, it being tbe girls fare. well to fiheir leader, Mrs Cunnold, who for tbe past few years has devoted her time and talents to tbe interests of tbe class. Miss L. Curry, tbe class secretary Teceived tbe guests and Mrs H. Rolands assisted in organising tbe games and competitions whicb interspersed witb items made the evening pass al! too quickly. Tbe Bev. R. B. Gosnell and Mrs Gosnell were present and Mr Gosnell on behalf of tbe chureh thanked M)rs Cunnold for ber untiring and capable leaderShip of the class. Tbe past members of -the class were represented by Mrs R. Craven, who, in a very sineere speecb, mentioned tbe fellowship and friendship given tbe girls by Mrs Cunnold, and as an officers of the Hawke's Bay Bible Class Union Mts Craven also expressed appreciation of tbo friendship Mrs Cunnold had extended to tbe girls as Camp Mother during several Easter camps. Miss Molly Wray, representing tbe present exeeutive of the distriet, also spoke of tbe kindly f eelings thatxprevailed between leader and classes. Miss L. Curry on behalf of tbe present class said low sorry tbe girls were to say farewell to a beloved leader and banded to Mrs Cunnold a gift from tliem. Mrs Cunnold said that sbe did not need tbe beautiful leatber shoping bag and the accompanying book to remind her of the very many bappy associations that her connection witb tbe class had brougjht to her. The ten years had been years of bappiness in tbe comradesbip of tbe girls, and the times of study and fellowsbpi in learning tbe lessons wbich tbe Master taugbt had been well wortb wbile. Sbe formally banded the keys of tbe rooms over to tjhe newly app.ointed leader, Mrs R. Mills and introduced ber to tbose present. Mrs Mills in a few suitable wordg aceepted tbe duties and responsibilities, saying that whereas Mrs Cunnold had been a "mother" to tbe girls sbe boped to be able to be their "sister," A lovely bouquet in tones of pink for Mrs Mills and ene in tones of deep red for Mrs Cunnold were the gifts from tbe girls wbile Mrs Craven handed Mrs Cunnold one from tbe ' 'old girls," inany of whom were present. During tbe evening Miss Una Loaeb entertained witb two recitations while Miss Laurel Curry and Miss Joyce Symonds sang, Miss Iris Curry play.ing tbe accompaniments. A dainty supepr was served and the gathering closed witb the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
