Mr. J. A. Burtenshaw Retires After 43 Years PRESENTATIONS MADE The retirenient of Mr J. A. Burtenshaw after 43 years of service with the Napier branch of Ross and Glendining Ltd., was marked by a pleasant funotion at which presentations were made in. xecognition of his long and valued association with members of the Napier and Wellington staffa. Mr Burtenshaw joined the Napier branch of Ross and Glendining when a, boy and for many years was manager of the firm's boot department, and after the. earthquake, for a period of two years, filled the position cf manager of the branch, a post whidh he had to ielinquish on account of his health. Dttring his long service with 'the firm he has been in close contac!: with re-' tailers throughbut Hawke's Bay and the Wairarapa with whom he was iheld in high esteem. 4 At a social gathering of the Napier staff on the eve of Mr Burtenshaw's retirement, Mr F. H. Williams, manager of the branch, made a presentation on behalf of the Napier and Wellington employees of a handsome armchair and a dinner set. In -expressing Tegret at the severing of Mr Burtenshaw's ; active conneetioh with the branch, Mr Williams paid a tribute to his able and faithful -service over such a long period, and hoped that in his retirement ho would enjoy health and happiness..
