In retrospect that famous combination looks the greater when it is realised that to replace them, in only a slightly longer period, the choice has vacillated among Wyatt, P. Holmes, Walters, Hamhiond, Bakewell, Arnold, Leyland, A. Mitchell, Keeton, Smith, Barnett, Gxmblett, Fagg, J. Parks, Worthing* ton and Kutton. Hobbs and Sutcliffo last played for England together at the Oval in 41930, which game also saw the end of the Tate-Larwood boWlihg combination.
