PALMERSTON N., Last Night, A brief discussion on the powers of justices of the peace to bear charges of intoxieation while driving cara, and comment on tho desirability of uniform judgment in such casea, wero heard in the Court this morning, Remands were ordered by two justices, Messrs M, A. Elliott and P. J. lovelock, when two chargos of this naturo waro laid, Whdn th© first case waa called, the Bench said it was oue of a serious ua* ture and that it would be better to adjourn it to enable a Magistrate to ■deal with it, The case would not be prejudiced by such action. "It is the opinion of the Bench tliat there should be uniformity in dealing with such cases, It is not felt justices can deal with this case," Mr EUiott said. When the second case was called, the solicitor tof the . defendant objectd to a recond reinand in this case on the gTound that it would affect the oparationa of the defendant '$ firm in this district.
