BRITISH CONCERN Perturbation at Reports from Wellington NEGOTIATIONS FOR PACT
(Bjt Telegraph-
-Copynght.)
(Eeceived 5, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, November 4. Perturbed at reports from Wellington that the British and New Zealand Governments ;.re negotiating a new trade agreement, which, it is believed, would adversely affect exports to the Dominion, the l.ational Uniion of Manufacturers has sent a letter to the Board of Trade asking if the reports are correct. The letter adds: . "llhere is widespread dissatisfr ction among manufacturers with the one-sidedness of the Ottawa agreemc its as they stand at present, and any movement in the dirhction of altering these and thereby increasing further the handicap against this country must add to their anxiety. "The amount of manufactured c^ods entering Britain from British countries is increasing and is likely to increase further, as American capital in Canada and British capital in the Eastern possessions is likely fully to use this extraordinary privilege. "It will be a serious • mattea: for British workers who, owing to this hole" in the Ottawa agreements, have been displaced by workers in the Dominions and elieap Asiatic lr.bour," '
