. WAIPAWA, Last Night. There was an exceptionally large attendance in the Municipal Concert Hall, Waipawa, when the Waipawa-Otane Presbyterian Ohurch held a concert as part of the celebrationa on the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the founding of the parish. The Kev. F. W. Robertson opened the proeeedings with a discourse of the early history and activities of the parish which was listened to with great mterest by those present. The choir next rendered a glee entitled "Orpheus with his Lute. " Mr D. S. Chalmers followed with a violin solo, and had to respond to an encore. The accompaniments were played by Mr J. Wyllie. The next entertainmOnt came from a inixed quartette confprising Mrs titrang, Miss j. Furminger, and Messrs R. A. Pepperell and F. R. Furminger. The Rev. B. B. Waugh addressed the gathering, ahd Cook the upportunity of congratuiating the parish on the attainment of the sixtieth anniversary of the ohurch. The speaker paid a tiibute to the labours of the Rev. F. W. Robertson in the paristq and tSe high estcom in which he was held by the Presbyterian Ohurch throughout New Zealand. He mentioned the fact that by fuliilling the m-inistry in the parish for 20 yearo Mr Robertson had established a very fine record, and qualified for what the speaker jokingly referred to as the "long distance medal." The Eev. Waugh also spoke of tho splendid a«sistance given by Mrs Robertson in th« affairs of the parish. He concluded by appealing to the members of the church to conunue to give the church and the minister theix loyal support as they had done jn the past-. Mrs Strang was heard in a vocal solo to which she had to respond to au encore, Mrs Furminger being the accompanists. The choir rendered the glee, ' ' Excelsior, " and this was followed. ny a solo and an encore by Mrs G. Knobloch. The Rev. H. S. Scott, of the Takapau parish, paid tributes to the good worlt of Mr Robertson in the parish and at tjie various church aissemblies. He couconcluded by congratuiating the church on its progress and expressed the hope that it would continue to so prosper. Mr F. Holt, elder of the church at Waipawa, moved a hearty vote of thanks to the Revs. R. B. Waugh and H. S. Scott for their attendanco, and also to the choir and the various performers.
