A meeting of the Hastings, -committee of the Hawke's Bay War Eelief Association was held on 'Tuesday.Present: Messrs. F. J. Hull (chairman), L: J. Mackersey, P. J. Priest and A. D. Eoss, Thirty-four returned soldiers' cases were considered and assistance was granted" in various ways, including grants amounting to £37 19/7, and recommendations were made to the proviiicial exeeutive- of tlie association that loans amounting to £45 be' made. A statement of payments and receipts for the month of Oetober, show-. ing grants to soldiers £73 14/6,, grants to ' dcpendants of soldiers £6 12/6, grants on account of other ' societies "£2, loans to soldiers. £27 7/2 and .repayments received £61 4/-, was placed before tho meeting . and' approved.
