' 1 These words were used by an auctioneer this morping when he sought to dispose of a number of hduses and ftresidential sitcs in Hastings on behalf of the trutees of the Edward Newbigin Estatei Though there were about 20 people present, the exhorta tions of the auctioneer failed to move his hearers, and the only bid was one for £50 for a half-aere section "for the salio of a start." The properties offered cpnsisted of a iAvo-storicd residence in St. Aubyn sireet, a jeven-roomed house at the corner of Ellison road and Hastings street, with two sections available, an eiglit-roomed house in Southland road and nearly two acres adjacent.
