LUNCHEON CLUB HOLDS YEAR'S FINAL MEETING

A most successful year of the Hasting Women's Luncheon Club was brqught to a happy close last evening when the membere met at the Hawke's Bay Earmers' tearooms for tea. The 24 members present sat round the long table on which stood crystal bowls of pink cyclamen and carnations charmingly arranged with blue conrflowen and maidenhair fern. After tea the club president, Mrs A. E. O'Meara, said how mueh slhe had j anjoyed tbe ycr.r's atftivities, many j very interesting speakers having at-. j tcndcd the luncheons. She paid special ! tribute to the good worlc done by the most capable secretary, Miss Sybil Lin- | elon, and also thanked Mrs SeluTn i Ghambers, tho club patroness, for her lielp and interest. Mrs O'Meara added that as she would not have another I cpportunity she would like to wish t!ie t members good luck in the New Year. Mrs H. Macdonald, a vice-president of f.ie club, spoke on behalf of the members, and said that the year could not be bought to an end without expressing ai preciation to the club presideu tand patrpness and# she presented to each a dainty slioulder spray. Mrs O'Meara and Mrs Chambers, in thanking the members, said that they had derived much pleasure from anything which they had done. Mrs G. D. McAlley was welcomed back after a long absence and she also spoke briefly saying how pleased she was. that the club was carrying on so suecessfully. The members tben adjourned to the Service Club Lounge where Miss J. M. Graham played several delightful piano solos and Miss Maud Holmes entertained Hhe members with recitations. As the members later attended the pictures this part o'f the evening concluded with a short but very jolly eommunity sing, the accompaniments being played by Miss J. M. Graham, followed by the singing of ' ' Auld Lang Syne," and the National Anthem. Those present were: — Mrs Selwyn. Chambers, Mrs A. E. O'Meara; Miss Sybil Lincoln, Mrs H. Macdonald, Mrs G. D.
