Big Blaze at Dunedin ADJOINING TANNERY SAVED

DUNEDIN, Last Niglxt. What threatened to develop into a flre of considerable proportions was saved by fine work on the part of tho brigade this afternoon. The fellmoiigery which was leased from Parker and Lawson, Ltd,, North-Cast Yalley, by Mr D. M, McLennan was • eompletely destroyed aad a full battery of machines and pumps was required to save tho adjoining building, Parkcr and Lawson 's tannery. 'l'lio alarm came from the clryipg room of the fellinongory, and it is thought that the outbreak was started from a motor. The building was blazlnar furiously when the brigacle arrived, and a strong south-westerly wind had carried the flames to the walls of the tam nery. The tannery was saved after a stronuous fight. The blaze was a speetacular oue, the. flames shooting 100 feot in the air. The outbreak occupied the attention of the brigade ior almost hours. The building and its contents wero insured in the Commercial Union In.surance Co,
