WELLINGTON, Last Night. Further progress has been made by the Government with -its plans for . relieving the pressure of work at present being experienced by the- Arbitratkm Court, and - legisb.tion on the subject is expected to be introduced 'in the House of Representatives durnig the next few days. A statement along thes©( lines. was made in an interview thi» evening by the Prime Ministar, tbe'Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage. . Tlhe proposed amendment to the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, the Prim-e Minister said, woixlcL enbale the Government to meet the present situation by the constitution of * 8econd Gourt, the appointment of industrial magistraets to deal with 1-ess important questions in indiistrial disputes, or a combination of both factors. There would be sufdcient elasticity to enable the Government to take a course of action dictatcl by circumstances. " The present indications af e that* we will have to appoint a second Court, probably on a temporary basis," said "Mr Savage. "That should enable the arrears of work.to be overtaken before long. I do not know whether it will b# neeessary to ; ppoint a temporary judge to preside over the new Court, .but if it is at all possible I sfrould say that a judge "of the Supreme Court would be asked to act in that capacity. "One thing is certain," added Mr Savage. "The present position is creconvenient to both employers and workers and we are determined to have it rectified in the best possible manner."
